Microneedling

At our clinic in Nottingham, we offer many anti-wrinkle and skin rejuvenation treatments. One of our newest and most popular treatment is microneedling.

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is the insertion of exceptionally thin needles into the upper layers of the skin in order to encourage skin rejuvenation. Vitamins can also be spread over the skin to increase the entry of these vitamins to the layer of the skin that matters. This vitamin regime can be tailored to you, depending on your particular issues with your skin.

How does it work?

At You Aesthetics in Nottingham, our doctor will presses very small needles only into the most superficial layer of the skin, called the epidermis. Even though no real damage is done, this causes the cells of the skin to initiate a healing process. This then activates pathways involved in tightening the skin by producing more collagen.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a naturally occurring substance in our skin that makes it plump and elastic. As we age, the collagen in our skin begins to diminish and causes it to sag a little. Microneedling therefore treats areas of saggy skin by encouraging it to produce collagen again.

How long does it last?

It can last between 3 and 6 months depending on how many treatments you have. A course of 5 to 8 microneedling treatments, spaced out, may last for up to a year. Most clients opt to "top up" their treatments however so their lines never fully return.

Does microneedling hurt?

No. The needles are are small you should not feel any pain at all. At our Nottingham clinic, our doctor is extensively trained in microneedling and techniques to both reduce discomfort and maximise the amount of collagen production.

Are there any risks associated with microneedling?

There are very little risks associated with microneedling. The most common are redness and swelling as the small needles may irritate the skin a little. If you opt to have some multivitamin treatments onto the skin, there is an exceptionally small risk of an allergic reaction to these. This is a very small risk and your aesthetic doctor is excellent at managing this.

How long does it take to recover?

Microneedling takes barely any time at all to recover and is often referred to as a "lunchtime" treatment because microneedling takes only one hour and you do not need to take time off to recover. It is recommended that you avoid make up for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment.

How long does it take to see the effects of microneedling?

The healing process takes between 4-6 weeks however we always recommend having more than one treatment for best results. Most people will have 3 treatments, although some people who have deeper lines may choose to have up to 8. These are often combined with Botox or peels for best results. Our aesthetic doctor can recommend a personalised regime tailored to you.

How much does microneedling cost?

At You Aesthetics, one session costs £150 however if you opt to buy 3 sessions, you receive a discount of £75 (£375 in total) and 5 sessions is only £500 (total discount £250!)
